Wellie wisdom
For sheer convenience, there's not much that beats pulling on a pair of good old Wellington boots, so make sure yours are the best you can buy. We have a wide range to choose from in our garden centre, so here are a few tips for choosing a pair you'll love to wear.
fitting: wear thick socks while you're trying on your wellies to allow for winter wear. You can choose from ankle-height 'clogs', convenient for short trips outside, three-quarter height wellies for those with shorter calves, and full-height boots.
soles: thicker moulded soles, with multi-directional lugs, help you grip better in slippery conditions. Reinforced soles and steel toecaps give extra protection while digging but are heavy, so thinner, lighter soles may be better for everyday wear.
linings: Neoprene lined boots are warm and cosy; Bamboo Carbon linings give a natural finish. For the ultimate in luxury there's leather lining, with full-length zips for easy access.
finishes: for classic style there are plain green, black or brown, but for a funkier look choose one of the many patterns from flowery to psychedelic
